CARE Golf Outing Event History

The first C.A.R.E. (Cancer Alzheimer Research Event) charity golf outing was organized in 2007 by two people determined to find a way to help raise money for organizations that help fight against diseases that have affected their lives. They set out to raise awareness, and funds, for The Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin. In the years since they have raised almost $100,000.00 in their quest to find cures. C.A.R.E. has since evolved into raising money for other charities like Ann’s Hope Foundation, Wounded Warriors and the MACC Fund who have touched us because of close friends and family.

Doug Meinholz represents Prostate Cancer Foundation. After tragically losing his father to Prostate Cancer, Doug wanted to help the fight against this disease. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America, and is often a slow growing cancer. One out of every six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, and more than 30,000 men will die from prostate cancer this year.

Chris Abounader is working to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin. Their mother was diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s while still in her 50s and died before 60. After seeing the disease slowly take their mother, they wanted to take action. Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person’s memory, ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. There are now more than 5 million people in the United States living with Alzheimer’s.

Everyone involved works hard for all of our charities. Thanks to all of our families and friends who make our work easy and fun to do.
